Jarrod Butler is a veterinary member of the Investigative Committee. He was appointed during the January 16, 2019 board meeting and subsequently reappointed on June 16, 2021.
Creager commenced the January 16, 2019 interview that led to Butler's appointment. She commented that toxicology sounded very interesting and wondered what made him specialize in that area; he replied that he was in small animal practice and toxicology eventually won him over. She also inquired as to his interest in the board; he stated that he "got the newsletter" and saw it, so he felt it would be interesting to be involved in the "judicial" side of things and give back to the community. He also felt it would be good to add to his many other veterinary endeavors. Butler was up against Nellie Goetz for the position and won; portions of the Board discussion pertained to whether they could legally hold the next slot in line for Goetz.
Butler's LinkedIn profile states that he graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College and later obtained a M.Sc. in Sustainable Aquaculture from the University of St. Andrews. His work experience begins with a stint at Family VetCare of Mesa, followed by a Chief of Staff role with Banfield, and a toxicology role with the ASPCA Poison Control Center. He later went on to work as adjunct faculty at Midwestern University and serves as Principal Toxicologist at Driftboat Toxicology, LLC. According to the Arizona Corporation Commission, it also appears that Butler more or less is Driftboat Toxicology, listed as the only member at its filing in 2017.
Butler was selected as one of the veterinary members to continue on to the downsized and merged Investigative Committee in June 2024.
